A smooth and powerful Côtes du Rhône featuring Syrah and Grenache from vines that are at least 30 years old.
Roca-Fortis is the Latin name for Rochefort-du-Gard, a name that appears in charters dating from 1169. Grapes are selected from vines on the best plots and the wine is matured for at least 18 months in 500 litre French Oak barrels to give good ageing potential.
Deep, clear garnet in colour with notes of ripe red fruits, cherries and blackcurrants backed by a nuance of Syrah spice. This wine has a smooth and powerful palate that benefits from opening and perhaps decanting a couple of hours before drinking. Good, fine tannins and a rewarding aromatic persistence.
Enjoy with grilled or roasted red meats and hearty winter stews.
