After
many years living and travelling around Europe we realised that many of
the great wines that we came across in our travels were just not
available in the UK. This is how the idea for "secret wines" came
about, an idea to seek out these great wines in Europe and
bring
them
to the UK. With this idea in mind and lots of enthusiasm we wondered
just where we should start, as we had tasted so many great wines in
many countries
and
regions. However as we thought more about our
dilemma we soon realised that there was one place that seemed to be so
secret, so unknown to most people in the UK that it had to be
the
place to start - Austria! Why Austria? You may well and
indeed should ask. Well for the last fifteen years there has
been
something of
a revolution happening within the Austrian wine industry, a revolution
that has remained relatively unknown across most of Europe and
certainly within the UK. This is now all
starting to
change with Austrian wine now coming to the attention of many of
the worlds top restaurants, connoisseurs and sommeliers. Why is this
happening? Well, Austria boasts many wonderful grape varieties as well
as a fantastic terroir, when these are brought together by the
talents of the new generations of Austria's wine making families they
combine to make the amazing wines that we now wish to show to you....
We hope
that you will love these wines as much as we do and want to
serve them to your customers and clients (as well as drinking them
yourselves of course!) We have spent a lot of time researching the
areas and vineyards of Austria and tasting the wines (the fun
bit!)
that they are producing. Having established these contacts and made
agreements with the wineries to import their wines into the UK we are
now able to offer them to you.
